Gastroenterology-Urology Radiation Oncology Group (GEUROG) was established in 2012. The multidisciplinary team cooperation among various superior departments to promote comprehensive and standardized treatment for cancer patients is the distinguishing feature of GEUROG. More than XX rectal cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, prostate cancer and other cancer patients have been treated and got benefit.
Advanced Technology
GEUROG had accomplished the first whole body X-ray irradiation treatment before the bone marrow transplantation in Peking University Third Hospital, and the first three-dimensional printing applicator combined with balloon intracavitary high-dose rate brachytherapy for recurrent rectal cancer , the first image guided three-dimensional intracavitary high-dose rate brachytherapy for recurrent rectal cancer and the first neo-adjuvant stereotact body radiotherapy renal cancer with inferior vena cava tumor thrombus in China.
GEUROG conducted many advanced techniques such as preoperative neoadjuvant concurrent chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer, preoperative neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy combined with hyperthermia for rectal cancer, HexaPOD evo RT 6D bed for locally advanced rectal cancer, MRI simulation assisted intensity-modulated radiotherapy for rectal cancer, multimodality image-guided radiation therapy for pancreatic cancer, radiotherapy for urinary bladder cancer with the purpose of organ-sparing and new paradim of comprehensive therapy for oligo-metastatic prostate cancer, which prominently improved the survival rate, organ-sparing rate and the quality of life for patients with rectal , bladder and prostate cancer.
Expert Team
There are 5 members in GEUROG Expert Team, whom all with doctor degrees. Among them, there are 1 doctoral tutor, 1 professor and 1 associate professor. GEUROG commits to developing talents and achieved great results, cultivating the first Peking University Third Hospital outstanding young doctor and young academic elite in the department of radiotherapy. It is a young team with strong innovation
GEUROG united the departments of General Surgery, Urology, Chemotherapy, Radiology and Pathology to form Rectal Cancer Collaborative Group and Urinary System Tumors Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment, which became the first MDT teams in Peking University Third Hospital energetically exploring a multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment modality for tumors in general hospitals.
Scientific Innovation
GEUROG closely combined advanced clinical technologies with basic research, a number of studies of which had been funded by the National Natural Science Foundation and the Peking University Third Hospital Foundation. The research achievements had been highly prized by many domestic and foreign experts. Twelve papers had been published on Science Citation Index (SCI) and Chinese core journals. The research results were oral presented on the annual meeting of American Society For Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the European Society For Radiation Oncology (ESTRO), the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS), the Chinese Society For Radiation Oncology (CSTRO), which are top level foreign and domestic conferences.
