On the afternoon of August 31, 2023, the Sixth Innovation and Transformation Competition and the Seventh Scientific and Technological Achievements Promotion Conference were held at Peking University Third Hospital. Zhang Fangying, Director of the Intellectual Property Office of the Zhongguancun Science City Management Committee, Liang Aimin, Director of the Science and Technology Development Office, and experts from relevant industries such as universities, medical device review, and investment companies participated in the event. Fu Wei, the President of Peking University Third Hospital, Vice Presidents Song Chunli and Tang Yida, and Chief Accountant Li Chun, along with other hospital leaders, attended the meeting. The conference was chaired by Jiang Xue, Director of the Party and Hospital Office and Director of the Office of Science and Technology Achievement Transformation.

Address by Fu Wei

President Fu Wei first delivered a welcome speech, in which he expressed that Peking University Third Hospital highly values scientific and technological innovation and the transformation of achievements. The hospital has been exploring various aspects, including the improvement of the medical science and technology innovation system and mechanism innovation. In the future, the hospital will continue to strengthen its capabilities in scientific and technological innovation, build national-level bases, and develop interdisciplinary research and development platforms. It aims to align with national strategic needs and promote the development of the health industry, exploring optimal paths to connect with various innovation entities and effectively bridge the gap between basic research and major applications.

Address by Zhang Fangying

In their speeches, Director Zhang Fangying and Director Liang Aimin fully acknowledged the practices of Peking University Third Hospital in interdisciplinary research and development, hospital-enterprise cooperation, concept verification, and achievement transformation. They expressed that the Haidian District will further increase support for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the biomedical industry, deepen cooperation with Peking University Third Hospital, and continuously promote the transformation of achievements. They hope that Peking University Third Hospital will create an innovative transformation model in the medical and health field, known as the "Model of Peking University Third Hospital" to provide stronger support for the construction of the Zhongguancun Science City, and make greater contributions to building a Healthy China and a Scientific and Technological Power.

Tang Yida Introducing the Overall Situation of Technological Innovation in the Hospital

Subsequently, Vice President Tang Yida introduced the overall situation of technological innovation at Peking University Third Hospital. The hospital has built a high-value outcome repository through patent pre-examination, leveraged its clinical resource to assist the registration review and approval of transformation products, and supporthe incubation and development of startups and enterprises. Utilizing the Xueyuan Road Alliance, the Concept Verification Center, and the hospital-enterprise cooperation platform as key approaches, the hospital has created a cyclic and composite innovation ecosystem.

Summary Speech by Liang Aimin

This year, 51 projects from 25 disciplines registered for the competition. After several rounds of selection, 10 projects from departments such as Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Radiology, Geriatric Medicine, Anesthesiology, Neurosurgery, and Reproductive Medicine entered the final round and were showcased in roadshow presentations. Eleven experts from various fields served as judges, scoring and commenting on the projects.
