Professor Chang Chun's team at Peking University Third Hospital leads the publication of a new metabolic immune mechanism of asthma in the European Respiratory Journal

On August 15, 2024, Professor Chang Chun’s research team from the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at Peking University Third Hospital, along with their collaborators, published online a research paper titled “LPG 18:0 is a general biomarker of asthma and inhibits the differentiation and function of regulatory T cells” in the top-tier respiratory journal, European Respiratory Journal. This study provides a new perspective on the metabolic immune mechanism of asthma and lays the theoretical foundation for developing new immunotherapy strategies and drug targets for asthma in the future. Assistant Researcher Abudureyimujiang Aili, Yuqing Wang, and Dr. Ying Shang from Peking University Third Hospital are the co-first authors of the paper. Professor Chang Chun is the corresponding author, with Associate Professor Jin Rong from the School of Basic Medical Sciences at Peking University and Professor Xu Zhang from the School of Basic Medical Sciences at Tianjin Medical University as co-corresponding authors.
