Our department has 46 years of history since 1958 when our hospital was set up. We had been in the old out-patient building till 2001,and then we moved to this new building. At that time, we updated all our equipments, now we are almost the best and most modernized dentistry department in the aspect of equipment and environment in Beijing or even in china. And all of us are very proud of this. Now we have 22 dentistry chairs, 20 of them are simens from German, and we all know the products from simens are quite famous for their quality and technique. As to sterilizing equipments, under the direct instruction of certain department of health ministry, we introduced the most advanced Germany merag autoclave into our department, every instrument must be disinfected by high temperature and high pressure before we use in patients to avoid cross infection among patients and between patients and doctors.

One unique thing in our department is our local network, we have our own digital x-ray machine, and we have a nurse take radiographs for patients. After the picture is taken, it was transmitted through the network to the doctor who asked for it in few seconds, it’s so convenient and timesaving. Every patient comes to our department have a record in our database, whenever he/she comes back, if only we can get his/her name and birthday, we can find his/her record, then we know the treatments he/she got from us before. We also use this system to distribute patients, the nurse in nurse station would know which doctor is busy and which is available from the network, so she can send a patient to a right doctor in a right time. It’s convenient for keeping order. We can do many other things in the local network, arranging our work, applying for dentistry material, posting announcement, talking to each other etc. It makes our work efficient.

We have 51 persons in total, including 26 doctors and 25 nurses, 2 clinical professors and 4 assistant clinical professors, 2 PhD and 3 MD. We receive about 300-400 patients every day, we do general dentistry, orthodontics, prothodontics, maxillofacial surgery, and the level of our clinical treatment is always in the leading group in our country.

Our main job is clinical work, at the same time, we do something in teaching and researching. Some interns in medical college of Peking university study stomatology here every year. Some doctors from all over our country come here to study for their post-school education. Now we have 8 such doctors. In research, we do some research that closely related to clinical work.
