At 9:00 p.m., March 1st, a group of masked and knife-wielding terrorists launched a violent attacke at Kunming, Yunnan Railway Station, involved more than 20 death and over 100 injuries. National Health and Family Planning Commission organized a group of medical experts on that very night. To guide and participate in rescue work, Yao Gaiqi, deputy director of Critical Care Medicine Department in PUTH and Guo Yan, an orthopedist as well as experts from other hospitals took the first flight to Kunming at 6:40 a.m., March 2nd. In total, National Health and Family Planning Commission selected 29 national medical experts from Beijing, Shanghai and Sichuan, as well as other provinces. Yao Gaiqi was appointed as the group leader.
