On March 22th, the first 3D printing medical implant in China – 3D printing artificial hip joint product got approval of registration from CFDA (China Food and Drug Administration). The hip joint product is also the first 3D printing hip joint prosthesis to pass the clinical verifications and get registered, marking that Chinese 3D printing implants have been in the transition phase.
The artificial hip joint product that gets CFDA registration belongs to the third kind of orthopedic implants, which is a kind of medical instruments with the highest regulatory level. The product is invented under the cooperation of Doctor Zhang Ke, Liu Zhongjun and Cai Hong in the Plastic Department of PUTH and Beijing AKEC Medical Equipment co., LTD, the biggest artificial joint production enterprise in China. The successful registration means a milestone in promoting the development of the whole 3D printing industry chain.
