Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine of Peking University Third Hospital Attends the ATS 2026 International Conference

From May 16 to 20, 2026, the American Thoracic Society International Conference (ATS 2026) was held in Orlando, USA. The ATS International Conference is one of the world's most influential international academic conferences in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Professor Sun Yongchang, Director of the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Peking University Third Hospital, led a delegation to the conference.

At the conference, teams led by Professor Sun Yongchang and Chief Physician Gai Xiaoyan of Peking University Third Hospital delivered thematic presentations and poster exchanges on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease research, covering "Mechanisms of Cardiovascular Comorbidities in COPD," "Post-Tuberculosis Lung Function Impairment: A Five-Year Prospective Cohort Study," and "Application of Biologics in Moderate to Severe COPD." Professor Sun Yongchang, as Vice Chair of the Respiratory Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and Head of its COPD Group, chaired the China Day session and held in-depth exchanges with multiple academic organizations including the ATS and the European Respiratory Society. Professor Chen Yahong, as a Chinese training mentor for the Methods in Epidemiologic, Clinical and Operations Research Program, participated in discussions on topics including the training of young respiratory scholars and also attended the International Women's Respiratory Health and Leadership Forum.

Wang Zihan and Chen Dian, doctoral students in the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, delivered academic presentations at the China Day session and both received ATS-ISRD Young Investigator Awards. Wang Zihan also delivered a presentation in the ATS COPD session and received an ATS Abstract Scholarship.
