Peking University Third Hospital (PUTH), a comprehensive tertiary hospital, is one of the largest public hospitals located in Beijing, China. The Department of Pediatrics was established in 1958 with a commitment to advance medical services, teaching and clinical research in neonatology and pediatrics. With more than thousands of medical professionals including many internationally renowned experts, the Department of Pediatrics becomes one of the largest medical providers for infants and children up to 16 years of age in Beijing. With the establishment of the Maternal Health and Child Development Center in 2015 , the Department has extended its services to outpatient care of infants and children at risk for developmental delay and/or ongoing medical issues following NICU discharge. The Center’s NICU Follow-Up Program has advanced the Department’s vision to address continuing medical needs of the neonates and infants. In addition to the care of infants and children, the longer-term goal of the Center is to create opportunities for wider family support, such as making the Center a family-friendly and developmentally supportive space. Additionally, the Center serves as a research and training site for medical professionals specialized in neonatology and developmental-behavioral pediatrics. This allows the Department to track outcomes and identify ways to improve care delivery of neonates and children in the future.
