The Peking University Third Hospital, a modernized and comprehensive (first-rate of Level three) hospital, is one of the largest hospitals in China and is committed to pursuing excellence in medical services, teaching, research and health care. During over fifty years of development, the Hospital has advanced equipments and over 1700 staff including many worldwide famous experts and professors, which attract the largest number of outpatients in Beijing everyday.

All pediatric specialties conduct their clinics in the pediatrics outpatient section. The Department is a regional (and national) referral and consultation center that provides comprehensive pediatric care: the 24-hour running out-patient clinic provides full time needs to patients; the availability of specialist clinics is welcomed by patients; and family-wards were set up in order to provide more convenience to patients and their family.

 

The Department of Pediatrics of Peking University Third Hospital is one of the largest providers of health care to premature and full-term newborns, children and adolescents up to the age of 16 in the Northwest area of Beijing. As a major pediatric center, inpatient services are provided through totaling 50 beds, including a 20-bed Pediatric Ward, 12- bed Neonatal Ward and 8-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

 

The Neonatology Division with its state-of-the-art neonatology unit is a major center managing the sickest neonates. Professor Huang Demin made a landmark contribution to the establishment and development of Neonatology in China. Professor Ye Hongmao and Professor Li Song are both nationally recognized for their treatment of neonatal diseases. With the huge patient population and variety of medical conditions managed, we have been built up reputation during the last 50 years.

 

Additionally, there are Pediatric Cardiology Division, Pediatric Neurology Division, Pediatric Pulmonology division, Pediatric Gastrointestinology Division, Pediatric Endocrinology Division and Pediatric Nephrology Division with over ten specialists and professors, for a thorough evaluation of the patient and for planning a comprehensive management plan, and providing assistance.

 

With the establishment of the Clinic for Child Health, the communication between physician and parents in child health has been significantly enhanced. With the aid of computer, we analysis the information of growth and development and evaluate the overall health status, then assist the establishment of appropriate parental care to the child. The mission of this Clinic has great relevance for the health and welfare of infants and children, their growth and development, and their opportunities to achieve full potential as adults. The Clinic satisfied the needs of over 3000 patients every year.

 

The Department is committed to excellence in teaching, cutting-edge research programs, and providing the highest quality of medical care by a team of excellent staff members. Our faculty members pursue diverse scholarly interests in an atmosphere of collaborative interaction. Medical school students rotate through the Department to gain first-hand experience in a hospital setting.
